While reading through chapter 18 one thing really caught my
attention and that was the subject about college. AS a college student myself
and as I grow older I observe how the schooling systems change. Although it is
possible to get a job without a degree you won’t be making enough money in our
materialistic world. Throughout my college career I have had a lot of ups and
downs with the pressures of college and getting good grades for a high GPA that
will give you a good paying job; because money makes the world go round. One think
that I think people especially parents need to understand is college has a lot
more pressure than it did back when they were in school. I seem to have this
fight with my mom on and off about how it is a lot harder. This I think is
because of the way not only college is changing but also the way that our
society is. We are changing curriculums to make is all about standardized
testing and not about creativity and learning. The problem starts as we are
younger knowing we have to make that good grade to which follows us into
college. It saddens me to watch my friends be so over stressed with the 3 test
they have this week or that papers that are due the next. College life is defiantly
harder than what I expected mentally and physically but we have to do what is
best for the future in this society.
