Chapter 3

I started reading chapter 3 in the text, and it starts out with hereditary and environment. I liked the first example with Rachel. Another mom noticed Rachel's finger was bent, so her mom consulted her husband and when he saw his daughter's finger, he smiled and revealed he too, had a bent finger. So Rachel did not hurt her finger while falling, it is purely hereditary. The beginnings of life section was interesting. Development begins at conception, when a zygote is created. A human reproductive cell is called a gamete. I learned most of this in Middle School, but it's nice re-reading it. On page 64 there is this picture of a karyotype. A karyotype portrays a persons chromosomes. I'm excited to keep reading this chapter!
