Chapter 6
In the recent discussion post we did where we had to watch a video of a child talking to an adult, I got side-tracked very fast and ended up spending thirty minutes watching videos of babies talking! It was so entertaining and cute. Anyways, when I was reading around pages 168-170 in the text, it reminded me of all the cute videos I watched yesterday. I saw many videos where the babies could only babble, which is the extended repetition of certain syllables, such as ba-ba-ba, that begins when babies are between six and nine months old. The "show me where" seemed to be a common style of communication. I saw that if the parent didn't point while they asked a question, the child was confused and didn't answer. Then the naming explosion, when there's a sudden increase in vocabulary, is always a fun stage. You can hold a conversation it's always amusing!
