After
reading through chapter 6 one thing really called my eye. "Boredom as a
Research Method" caught my eye because I get bored really easily. This
research method is based on a method called habituation which basically refers
to getting used to an experience after repeated exposure to it. I think this
can relate to life at college. Specifically in the food category. On
Millersville campus we have 4 places to eat. In the beginning it is fine
because 4 places does seem like a lot of options, but after a while of being
campus you get very bored of the food. Now the example I gave does not directly
go along with the method because the research method used babies instead of
college kids. It was very interesting to see how they could tell the
infants were losing interest in these items because they are too young to
express how they feel. Researchers looked for things such as a longer or more
focused gazed, a faster or slower heart rate, more or less muscle tension
around the lip and a change in rhythm, rate, or pressure of suction on a nipple.
