Week 2: Blog 2.

While continuing through chapter 2, I came across the subject of humanism founded by Carl Rogers and Harry Harlow. It truly fascinates me to understand that each person living in our world is completely different from one another, yet we all appear to have the same basic needs as much as we might not want to admit it. It causes me to think a lot about life, and who we are as individuals. We each desire to be loved, respected, and have a decent self-esteem. But, sometimes I wonder why people continue to tear each other down in so many ways if at the end of the day, they all desire the same sense of acceptance and love? Maybe it's one thing I will never discover the answer to, but it still makes me think. The common need to self-actualization interests me as well. I find it amazing that we go through life trying to find ourselves and decide who we are, and where we want to be, and even who we want to be with for the rest of our lives. We spend every single day "soul-searching" for the person we were meant to become and how we can form ourselves into better individuals. As humanism tells us, it's not always about the differences we have, but it's about all of the other things that we have in common that we don't always realize. It truly is intriguing to think about!
